Thanks to my dad, I'm a huge fan of espionage thrillers-- Always have been, always will-- And when the Bourne Identity came out, I almost peed my pants. Then the other two came out and I went to see all of them, despite knowing that I'll get horrible cases of motion sickness thanks to Greengrass' trippy, shakey-cam (God bless him) style. I thought Identity was brilliant, I thought Supremacy was mind-blowing and I thought Ultimatum was... well, you get the idea. XD It's one of those very rare trilogies that get better as they go along, like fine wine.
Imagine the mix of emotions I felt when rumors (which are now pretty much facts) started going around that said there'll be a fourth Bourne movie. A part of me said HELL YEAH because I get to see an extension of this fantastic story and another part went *HEADDESK* because with Ultimatum, the story was perfectly tapered off-- not ended but sculpted down, at least-- and to see something else attached to that... well, we all know what happened to Love Story, right?
Well, the rumor said that the fourth installment of the Bourne story would be a adapted version of Ludlum's
The Parsifal Mosaic. While I haven't read the novel (nor any Ludlum book... I really should, though), they synopsis was enough to get me interested. I could see how it could be adapted to fit the current Bourne storyline-- not without a few glitches, though.
Then this comes along.
So now, The Parsifal Mosaic and Bourne 4 are two completely different projects? Again, I dunno how to feel about this especially because the genius who scripted the Bourne Trilogy,
Tony Gilroy (ILU TONY!), is out. O_o
