I'm currently working on Je dis que rien ne m'epouvante with my teacher and I recorded the first few bars of it. Because I'm too chicken to do the entire thing. XDDD

Pleeeeeeeeeeeease! CC and tips on the French. I do pretty well when my teacher's around but I have a feeling that I forget a bunch of stuff when I sing by myself. -_-;

I've got college auditions in a few months. T___T! But it's all going well. I'm just really nervous.

Mia maestra gave me Hugo Wolf's Der Gärtner today. Usually, I'm not a fan of lieder but this one is just amazing!

Okay fine, I don't sound like THAT but that's the song. XD

Alright. I know I've been totally bagging on Valkyrie (can you blame me?) but I came across a very interesting up-coming film by the name of State of Play starring Russell Crowe, Rachel McAdams, Ben Affleck and Helen Mirren. Apparently, the story's based on a BBC mini-series. Hmm. (OMG. THE MASTER AND DOCTOR AND THAT ONE GUY FROM UNDERWORLD AND THE DUDE FROM WANTED! ADJSKFL;)

I'm WAY to lazy to write down the synopsis so...

TRAILER!TRAILER!TRAILER!

Heh... Crowe could really use a bit of grooming. >>

The director is Kevin Macdonald (his previous works include Last King of Scotland and  One Day in September) and the screen play is by Tony Gilroy (all three Bourne films, Michael Clayton).

Good cast, good director, good writer. I think we can look forward to this one guys. :D

Valkyrie is like having to watch someone build a bomb and then never getting to see it explode.
--Joe Meumaier (New York Daily News)

Not only is Singer’s filmmaking aesthetically frustrating (lacking coherent visual rhythm) but his juvenile regard of the July 20, 1944, plot to kill Hitler -- one of 15 documented attempts -- is intellectually insulting.
--Armand White (New Yord Press)

There's the absurdity of Cruise intoning to Adolph in his broad American accent, "My Führer, if I may . . ." while the rest of the Germans are sounding as if they're auditioning for Henry Higgins in a touring company of My Fair Lady. --Brandon Judell (CultureCatch)

What's next, Clint Eastwood as Gandhi? --Matt Pais (Metromix.com)

I loled. Especially at the last one. XD

Apparently, not even epic amounts of wangst and Cruise's bitchin' eye patch and save this film...

http://emanuellevy.com/search/details.cfm?id=12037

"[A] glitzy and shallow picture that pays little attention to psychology, motivation, characterization, and broader political context [...] Arguably miscast, Cruise is stiff and unconvincing as the courageously heroic German officer.  He speaks with a distinctly American accent, though early on, he utters a few sentences in German
(SERIOUSLY?? GERMAN? DAMN I'VE GOT TO GO WATCH THIS MOVIE.).  Making things worse is the fact that Cruise is surrounded by a distinguished supporting cast of English thespians (Tom Wilkinson, Kenneth Branagh, Eddie Izzard, Terence Stamp), who speak in English accent.  Then there are some officers who speak with a touch of German accent, and actors like the Dutch Carice van Houten (who plays Stauffenberg's wife) and German actor Thomas Kretschmann [...] The whole production takes a wrong, overly stylized (neo-noir), approach to a theme that should have been treated with more respect to facts, events, and especially characters as they form and change coalitions within the army [...] Forced to wear a black eye-patch and a prosthetic arm, he is still amazingly adept at conducting all kinds of physical activities, some of which quite complicated, as it becomes clear when Stauffenberg himself plants the bomb in Hitler's sheltered headquarters. (LOL EYE PATCH ASDJFKL;! I READ IN ANOTHER REVIEW THAT CRUISE DOES A NAZI SALUTE WITH A PROSTHETIC ARM BWAHAHAHAHA!)"

I'm sorry for being irreverent. it's just that this movie is already full of SO much hilarity. I CAN'T WAIT FOR IT!!!

Oscar worthy my ass. I don't think any amount of belief suspension will help be get over the Cruise!eyes patch. *HEADDESK* I'm going to go see this movie when it hits theatres but only because of the pretty period costumes and Kenneth Branagh and Bill Nighy.

And I hate how they're calling it Valkyrie. IT'S WALKÜRE!!! (Okay, okay I know Valkyrie is the English version but I just love that opera too much to let this go.)

I had a lesson yesterday and I, simply put, wanted to rip my hair out.

Dear Coloratura,

Thanks a LOT for leaving for a vacation when my teacher was thinking of giving me bel canto and Mozart for my college audition. Now she's second guessing her decision.

Screw you,
Rach

PS: PLEASE COME BACK!!!

Usually, I don't have any problems with coloraturas. I'm naturally agile and able to sing quick passages with relative ease... but yesterday, I couldn't do trills let alone scales.

My teacher told me that it's probably a combination of tension and the inability to release and engage my abdominal muscles but I just couldn't fix it during the lesson.

*Sigh* I guess it was one of those "bad days" but dammit-- things just haven't been clicking into place like they used to. New Teacher Blues or is it just me?

GAH! *HEADDESK*

Congrats to the democrats! I've gotta show good sportsmanship here.

But for me, I'm officially in mourning for the next four years. In case you're wondering, I'm mourning the loss of the many ideals that started this country. All those brilliant ideas written down by Madison in the Federalist Papers, especially the one about factions (No. 10, I believe), is dead. The left now has completely control over two of the three branches of government and we all know what that means. Wiki Jackson and you'll get what I mean.

Anyways, conservatism is screwed for the next four years but we WILL have whining right so... YAY! But it's not like media's even going to cover it so whatever.

Originally posted this on the RPG site that I belong to but I thought I should also say it here:

Honestly, the crap that's going on about Palin is just ridiculous.

Before I get too pissed off about that, I'm going to talk about what was said up there. "is it just me or is McCain trying to get what Andy and I have dubbed "the vagina vote" with his VP nom?"

Um... Why isn't anyone talking about Obama's choice? Biden's a rich white guy. Is Obama going for the rich white dick votes?

I'm convinced that if McCain chose Lieberman, the left would've been on him in no time with accusations that said that he was trying to rally Jewish votes. And if he had chosen a white guy, the left would've bitched about how he was an elitest and how undiverse he was.

Politics is ugly and simply designed to get votes. I'm not defending McCain here. I'm just saying that viewing all of this through that kind of filter makes no sense.

Back to Palin. Aren't the liberals the one's who are normally "more tolerant" than the conservatives? Ergo, isn't the way the left has been handling the news of Palin's daughter's pregnancy kinda hypocritical. It was left wing bloggers who totally pounced on her.

I'm not saying this absolutely isn't an issue. If you think it is one then that's your choice. But seriously. Pick a side and stay with it. Stop with all this double standard crap.

EDIT: Guys... I like her. :D

X-posted on the Sueniverse...

So, yesterday in PE class we played dodgeball and the coach said that if someone hits a person in the face, you're out.

I get hit in the face three times BY THE SAME GUY and he refuses to get out!

But it was all good. I got him in the groin. Really hard.

And TODAY, we were playing soccer and this guy kicks the ball IN MY FACE from, like, a yard away. I mean, it wasn't like he didn't see me--I WAS RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM, FOR CHRIST'S SAKE! So, I've got a big red mark and a shit load of grass and mud on my face and the dude SNICKERS and walks away. O_o And it wasn't until one of his buddies went up to him and told him "Dude, that's not cool. You should say sorry" that he apologized.

Honestly, what is happening to the majority of the kids in high school these days? It's as if manners don't exist. We've got kids cussing-out teachers, not bothering to pick up after themselves after lunch, blowing cigarette smoke into the faces of people who are trying to leave campus--oh--and not apologizing after almost decapitating someone with a soccer ball! I think it's fair to blame it on our culture. We live in an "anything/everything goes" society where morality and common courtesy are shrugged off as archaic laws only observed by the "un-cool"; ergo, making them overrated concepts of the old regime (aka previous generations... aka their parents' generation). And parents aren't completely blameless either. These days parents barely have enough time to eat breakfast and get out the door let alone make time to talk about why spitting on the sidewalk isn't the behaviour of a well-mannered citizen. Actually, I don't think they'd care--but the bottom line is: parents don't bother anymore. Maybe it's not entirely their fault and I think society is more to blame but either way...

Kids are turning into jerks and not much is being done about this problem.

Soon enough their going to learn that they can't get through life while being an ill-mannered jerk-off but not before reality gives them a good, hard kick up the ass.
